Blackberry Season Near Me In Virginia

Blackberry season in Virginia typically runs from late June through August, offering a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy fresh, locally-grown blackberries. One tips is to pick blackberries when they are fully ripe. This usually means they are a deep black color and come off the vine easily with a slight tug. Unripe berries will be red or purple and won't ripen after picking. Below are 10 of the best farms, complete with addresses, seasonal hours, and amenities for each.

My Kids' Favorite Blackberry Recipes for After Your Picking

Disclaimer: These are Canva Pro photos of pro recipes but my kids fav with 2 ingredients is below too :)
One of my fondest summer childhood memories involves a simple yet delightful treat: blackberries in a bowl with milk and a dustin of sugar. This "recipe," if you can call it that, was my go-to comfort food in the summer .
Now, my children have taken this beloved tradition and added their own creative twist. They call it "Blackberry Cereal," which involves mixing blackberries with milk and a little sugar, just like I used to do. However, they've found a way to elevate this treat into something even more special. They place their concoction in the freezer until it’s partially frozen, then they smash it up to create what they fondly refer to as "Blackberry Ice Cream."
