DC Ice Skating Rinks

NGA Sculpture Garden - DC's most iconic ice skating rink!

Dates: November 23, 2024 - March 2, 2025. No reservation is required.

Hours:

Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
Friday–Saturday, 11:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m.

Cost:

Ticket includes 2 back-to-back, 45-minute skating sessions that each begin on the hour. So you get 2 hours total (Last 15 minutes of each hour is for cleaning the ice.)

$12: Ages 13+
$10: Ages 12 and under, 60+, military service members with ID, students with school ID
$6: Skate rental
Free lockers are available first come, first served.

Georgetown Washington Harbor Ice Skating Rink

Dates: November until February 23, 2025 (weather permitting).

Hours:

Sunday through Thursday: 11-12:30, 1-2:30, 3-4:30, 5-6:30, 7-8:30
Friday and Saturdays: 11-12:30, 1-2:30, 3-4:30, 5-6:30, 7-8:30, 9-10:30

Gaylord National Hotel - The Outdoor Skating Rink is part of their amazing ICE!

This is Northern Virginia's largest outdoor ice skating rink (formerly called Pentagon Row) and the second-largest in the state!

Kids Gear for Ice Skating in the DC Area

Waterproof Snow Pants are the best for padding little beginners. We like this warm Artctix Kids Limitless Fleece Top Bib Overalls. My son says the fleece part is so soft that he doesn't want to put a shirt on underneath!
Smartwool Socks for Kids are great for padding and warmth when on the rink. I bought Smartwool socks for my kids and they are wonderful. Yes, 1 pair is the price of a whole pack (or two!) of big box store socks but these are made of 73% Merino wool, 23% nylon, and 1% elastane. They are so comfortable and warm but you don’t sweat at all! I have had the same pair of Smartwool socks for 4 years and they are still going strong and this year my husband got his first pair and wears them like slippers! Tip: Definitely size up! They run super small. Lots of different styles to check out:
