New 2025 Reservation Rules at Sandy Point State Park

Sandy Point is especially family-friendly, but a little preparation goes a long way. Under a new policy, visitors to Sandy Point and Greenbrier State Parks will now need a reservation to enter on weekends and holidays starting Saturday, May 24. You can make your reservation online through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources—don’t skip this step, as the park often reaches capacity early, especially during the summer months.

Sandy Point State Park Beach offers a classic Chesapeake Bay experience just minutes from Annapolis, with sweeping views of the Bay Bridge and a wide stretch of sandy shoreline perfect for families. The beach is especially popular in late spring through early fall, when temperatures typically range from the mid-70s to upper 80s°F (24–31°C). Water temperatures in the bay usually warm up by mid-June, making it a comfortable spot for swimming and wading.
