Our Special Harbor Splash Park at Chessie's Backyard, Franconia
Our favorite splash pad in Virginia! Here’s a reel from last year to show all the wonderful parts. The park is located off Telegraph Road near Kingstowne at Franconia Rec Center. The splash pad is 💯 accessible and free. They have benches and chairs under a shade canopy. Lots more details on the playground, carousel, and more at this link and at the Foundation here.

Mosaic District Splash Pad in Northern Virginia
Located at Strawberry Park in Mosaic District near Merrifield. Tons of fun shopping, astroturf, large screen for summer movies, and a variety of restaurant options. Previous summer they were on 11 am-8 pm daily beginning in May.
Fairfax City Splash Pad at Old Town Square Northern Virginia
A nice spot to splash and play on a hot day. About 15 jets open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM daily. Note: They have a couple of dates throughout the summer that will be closed because of concerts. Highly recommend you check the city's website before you go out to avoid disappointment!

The Boro, Tysons Splash Pad in Northern Virginia
This is another 15 or so jet splash pad my kids really liked! Not too much to do but for littles, it would be great with an astroturf field and Jeni's Ice Creams nearby! Pictures and video in this post.

Atlantis Splash and Water Park in Centreville, Virginia
Atlantis Water Park is a popular family destination located in Centreville, Virginia. My family and I have only been to Bull Run Regional Park during the bluebells and just drove by Atlantis but it wasn't open then.
The water park features a variety of water attractions, including thrilling water slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, and a children's play area. The park's Atlantis theme adds an extra level of excitement, with attractions such as Poseidon's Playground, Neptune's Revenge, and the Bermuda Triangle. You can rent lounge chairs, umbrellas, and purchase food and drinks.
You can find out more here on hours and ticketing. They have a great area for younger kids. It is also located inside Bull Run Park Regional Park which has lovely trails, at least 2 playgrounds that my kids and I enjoyed, and lots of picnic areas!
Pirate's Cove Water Park in Lorton
Pirate's Cove Water Park is an epic summer destination in Lorton, Virginia. The park offers a wide range of water-based activities for visitors of all ages, including water slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, and a children's play area. The park's pirate theme adds an extra element of fun, with attractions such as Blackbeard's Pirate Ship and the Buccaneer Beach interactive water play structure.
In addition to the water attractions, the park offers plenty of amenities such as lounge chairs, umbrellas, and food concessions. You can find out more here on hours and ticketing. They have a great area for younger kids. It is also located close to Mason Neck State Park.

- Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole - A really fun water park with a great toddler area splash pad. This is a paid water park run by the county and here is my family's review of the Water Mine.
- Dogwood Pool Picnic Pavilion at 2460 Green Range Dr. (this is not accessible if the Pavilion has been rented out). I am not sure when the splash pad area will be turned on but a good guess would be May 29 for Memorial Day.
- Lake Anne Park Splash Pad at 11301 North Shore Dr. I am not sure when the splash pad area will be turned on but a good guess would be May 29 for Memorial Day.

This was my personal favorite last summer because it was ALL shaded in the afternoon! Here's a reel of our time. Fun playground next door. Recommend parking in the community center parking lot.

Long Bridge Park with a Misting Feature (Not splash pad) in Arlington Northern Virginia
Check out this reel. Cool set of 3 playgrounds at Long Bridge Park! Plus you can watch airplanes take off at DCA and trains right next to the walkway. My kids loved the Mist/Fog/Spray playground, perfect for cooling off. Also, my kids loved the big red button to turn it on. Second is what I am calling the “teletubby hill” playground which was SHADED and had so many cool features. My kids played here the longest and it was great for hide and seek!

Potomac Yard Park Splash Park
Great splash pad between two playgrounds right in Potomac Yard. The only problem is parking can sometimes be hard to find. Currently open in 2022 from 10 AM to 9 PM Memorial Day through Labor Day and 10 AM to 8 PM Labor Day to approx. mid-October. Includes 36 water jets and offers 3 programmable sequences and sensors! Great Waves Water Park
This is a paid water park inside Cameron Run Regional Park. Tons of fun and has a great toddler area splash pad too. I wrote a review of our time at Great Waves Water Park here.
Splash Pad Near Me in Prince William County
Splash Down Waterpark - Manassas
This was my kids favorite place last summer! Splash Down Water Park is Northern Virginia's Largest Waterpark. They have so much to do for kids of all ages. They have a 4-story tall slide, Log Walk, pools and a Lazy River. There is a splash pad area for little kids and even tiny slides for toddlers.

Signal Bay Waterpark - Manassas
We haven't been to Signal Bay Water Park yet but it looks great with a lazy river, water slides and areas for little ones. All the details one their website.
Stonewall Park Pool - Manassas
An outdoor pool and small water slide that is part of the City of Manassas. They also have a splash pad for the little ones and a baby pool. More details on their website.
Stonebridge Potomac Town Center - Woodbridge
Small but fun splash pad in the center of Stonebridge Shopping Center (near Old Navy, the Apple Store, and on the same side as REI). Open it is on from 10 AM to 8 PM. We went last year but I can't find my picture! Their facebook page will probably post when it opens.
Waterworks Waterpark - Dale City
We haven't been to this water park in Dale City but their website claims they are the largest in Northern Virginia (as does Splashdown!) They have many water slides, wading pools and a splash pad for little ones. It is located inside Andrew Leitch Park. Their website for hours and admission here.
Virginia Gateway - Gainesville
Another shopping center splash pad is Virginia Gateway in Gainesville. It will be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and you can check its website for any closures and photos.

#1 Water Shoes: Great to have water shoes to help your kids not hurt the bottoms of their feet. I always look for covered/reinforced toes which these have. Lots of colors and styles for girls and boys.
#2 UPF Rashguard Shirts: I purchased this one for my daughter because I like the mock neck. Tons of colors and sizes and a great price.
#3 Favorite Sun Hat: We've used these hats for 6 years! (Originally from REI bought found on Amazon) 2,700, 5-star reviews with UPF 50 and Smart Strap which is safer to help prevent choking.
